Web Browser Requirements

To use the Electronic Encyclopedia of Chicago, you will need to have Safari 1.0, Firefox 1.0, or Netscape 6.0 (or higher) installed on your computer.

What version of Safari, Firefox, or Netscape do I have?

You may also determine the version of the browser you are currently using by clicking on your browser’s name in the menu and selecting "About".

How do I update my browser?

These updates are free and available for download from the Web. Use the links below to find the latest version of the browser of your choice.

Screen Resolution Requirements

While the majority of the Encyclopedia's pages were designed for a resolution of 800 x 600, some pages are best viewed with a resolution of 1024 x 768 or greater. To determine resolution in Mac OS X, open "System Preferences" from the Applications folder and choose "Displays." The resolutions for your display are listed on the left. Please consult Mac OS X help for more information.
