Lake County, 42 miles NW of the Loop. Originally called Indian Hills, the village is the only one of the four communities including “Round Lake” in its name not located along the lake. Upset with water distribution from Round Lake Beach, some residents fought for incorporation, succeeding on the third try in 1960. Round Lake Heights is now a bedroom community, with a population of 1,347 in 2000.
