Lakemoor, IL

Lake and McHenry Counties, 43 miles NW of the Loop. Platted in 1924 as a vacation spot around Lily Lake, Lakemoor incorporated in 1938. Struggling over the issue of taxes, villagers voted to dissolve the incor- poration in 1943. Requiring improved community roads and police protection, residents voted by a slim margin to reincorporate in 1952. Population in 2000 was 2,788.
