Lily Lake, IL | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Kane County, 44 miles W of the Loop. The lake inLily Lake no longer exists. When the town pavedits roadways in the 1930s, they drained the small lake to its south. Lily Lake began as a milk stop when dairy farmers shipped their products to Chicago on the Great Western railroad (established in 1885). In 1990 residents of Lily Lake grudgingly voted for incorporation to thwart a landfill plan. The population in 2000 was 825.
