Cook County, 16 miles SW of the Loop. The Potawatomi hunted and traveled along a trail (now Plainfield Road) en route to the Illinois River. Lyonsville developed as an agricultural community by the 1880s and was incorporated in 1959 as Indian Head Park. Numerous golf courses help make this an attractive suburb for commuters on the Stevenson Expressway (I-55) and the Tri-State Tollroad (I-294).
