Democratic National Convention, 1932 | ||||
Democratic National Convention, Chicago Stadium, June 27, 1932. The convention nominated Franklin Roosevelt for president. The banner honoring Chicago's Democratic mayor, Anton Cermak, was left over from his mayoral campaign a year earlier. In 1933 Cermak was killed in Florida by an assassin aiming for Roosevelt, and thousands of people again filled the Chicago Stadium for Cermak's funeral.
