Crest Hill, IL

Will County, 33 miles SW of the Loop. Crest Hill incorporated in 1960 toavoid annexation to Joliet. The city annexed the land encompassing the Stateville Correctional Center in 1987, which subsequently accounted for the majority of Crest Hill's taxes. The 2000 population was 13,329, including 2,571 prisoners.
