Although a dinner was scheduled in his honor on September 19, 1860, the Prince of Wales did not arrive in Chicago until September 21, according to reports in the
Chicago Tribune. The prince traveled through the city as part of a North American tour. While in Chicago, the royal party stayed at the Richmond House at Michigan and Water, just west of the Michigan Central Railroad depot.
