Daniel H. Burnham to John Sherman, 1897 | ||||
In 1897 architect and city planner Daniel H. Burnham wrote a letter to his father-in-law John Sherman, with whom Burnham had lived after marrying Margaret Sherman in 1876 until moving to the couple's new home at Michigan Avenue and 43rd Street. Burnham describes his plans for remaking the city's lakefront and the support he has received from Sherman's Prairie Avenue neighbors, including George Pullman and the Armours.
