South Shore Beach Conditions, c.1920 | ||||
In the first decades of the twentieth century the Women's City Club of Chicago led a campaign to open additional bathing beaches. They investigated potential sites and attempted to persuade the South Park and Lincoln Park Commissions to clean up the beaches and maintain them for public use.
