Dempsey-Tunney Fight, 1927 | ||||
More than 100,000 boxing fans crowded Soldier Field to watch the 1927 heavyweight championship fight between Gene Tunney and Jack Dempsey. Despite being knocked to the mat in the seventh round (pictured here), Tunney returned to his feet after the famous "long count" to defeat Dempsey.
